Upsell

« Back to Glossary Index

Upsell is a sales technique in which a salesperson encourages the customer to buy more expensive or upgraded versions of an item, or add extras, to increase the total value of the purchase.

For example, offering a premium version of a software after the initial purchase of the basic version.

"Would you like a large fry for just 50 cents more?". You've probably heard this phrase in a famous burger joint. This is a classic example of upsell.
